25 easy ways to save money in 2018

We are closing out on the second weekend of the year, and if you’re like most people, you may still be figuring out your 2018 goals, gave up on them or never set any (like me.) One thing for sure,  I’m always on the lookout for ways to save money. Whether it means searching for the best price on gas (read my post on saving gas here!)or clipping a few coupons before I head to the store. There are so many easy ways you can save money and honestly, without much of any effort! You have spent hours working hard for your money, so keep as much of it in your pocket as possible! These money saving tips are so easy; anyone could do them. If you are looking for a few ways to get started with saving money, here are 25 easy ways to save money this year.

  1. Try a money-saving challenge
  2. Enjoy free activities instead of spending money on entertainment
  3. Shop at the dollar store (this blogger lists 67 items you can buy from the dollar store!)
  4. Start using the cash envelope method
  5. Buy your staples in bulk
  6. Start using coupons (My coupon cheat sheet is below!!)
  7. Make your gifts instead of buying them
  8. Lower your utility bill (I’ve been able to manage not paying a cent over $150 on my electric and gas bills!)
  9. Create a budget and stick to it
  10. Get your pedicures at home
  11. Follow grocery store sales cycles to save money on groceries  (This is important if you’d like to coupon!!!)
  12. Make a meal plan before you head to the store
  13. Use your credit card rewards
  14. Look for a cheaper cell phone plan
  15. Try a no spend challenge
  16. Shop at thrift stores
  17. Sell clothes you’re no longer using to pay for new clothes
  18. Keep your air conditioner in good shape for the summer months
  19. Change to a cheaper cable plan
  20. Find free or cheap books to read
  21. Make your baking mixes from scratch instead of buying the boxed variety
  22. Save your pocket change
  23. Drive smart and save money on gas
  24. Cut your gym membership and workout at home
  25. Look for ways to save when you must eat out

You may be wondering what is my favorite method of saving and I’d have to say couponing! I didn’t coupon often in 2017 because couponing can be very time consuming, but with some planning you can save a bunch. 1. Follow the grocery stores sale cycles as mentioned in #11 above. 2. start picking up the weekend newspaper for the inserts. 3.  Join coupon sites like coupon.com and remember to ONLY save/use coupons for things you actually use!!! I see so many people buy loads of junk that they never use or by time they do use it, the products have gone bad.4. Are you a beginner and have no idea on the mumbo jumbo of coupon language? Grab my coupon cheat sheet below. It will assist you as you embark on your money saving/couponing journey in 2018!

I’m trying to be less lazy and actually hit multiple grocery stores instead of doing all my shopping at the most expensive(closest to my house) one. Aldi has most of the stuff I need and is way cheaper!

This is so perfect for my boyfriend and I. We already started with a few things, but with a vacation coming up we had to focus on that. We will be buckling down the savings as soon as we come back to the states. This was perfect and super easy so we will be following these steps. Thanks for always sharing your advice!
