Are You Unintentionally Damaging Your Skin?

We all want to look our best, but while we can choose what clothes we wear every day, there’s one aspect that’s seemingly out of our control — our skin. Some days it looks bomb; at other times it looks meh. But what if there was a way to take some of this unpredictability out of the equation? Well, maybe there is. It turns out that many of us are damaging our skin, and we’re not even aware of it. Soaking Up The Rays

When it’s been such a long and cold winter, it’s understandable that many of us will want to head outdoors, and soak up the sunshine, as soon as we can. But while sunlight can make us look good — who doesn’t love a healthy sunshine glow on their face? — in general, it’s not all that good for us. If you’re going to be out in the sun, make sure you’re wearing sunscreen, even if the temperatures aren’t hot enough to burn you (your skin will be getting damaged anyway).

In the Shower

Let’s not make any mistake — you need to take showers. But the way you shower may be harming your skin and needs to change. There’s no need to use scorching hot water — it’s not good for you. I know, this is a hard one, I LOOOOOVE hot showers. Turn that dial down a little, and stick to lukewarm water when possible. If you’re feeling brave, then take a cold shower — it can do wonders for your skin. We want to look fab when we go out, but sometimes, it’s the act of socializing that causes us trouble. If we’re spending too many nights catching up with friends, then it’ll begin to show on our face. This happens in two ways. For starters, if you’re staying out late all the time, then you can’t get the beauty sleep that you need. Second, alcohol has a dehydrating effect on your skin. Limit your alcohol intake (or up your water intake!), and also those of other vices, such as smoking, which have an aging effect on your skin.

What Are You Giving Your Body?

Our skin is going to reflect what you put into it. If you’re eating overly greasy meals and junk food often, then you’re going to find that your skin begins to look the same. Look at eating healthy meals that give your body all the nutrients that it needs to look at its vibrant best. They don’t have to be complicated — there are plenty of easy to make meals that just use a few ingredients and can take as little as twenty minutes to make.
