When the temperatures drop and the leaves begin to turn, you know fall is here. Arguably the most romantic season of the year, it’s easy to find fun fall date ideas to take advantage of during the autumn months. I have been so busy planning my brother’s and his fiance baby shower, My significant other and I haven’t gone on many dates with all the prepping for the baby shower! With the shower taking place this coming weekend, I am excited to get back to exploring all the fall festivities in the DC area! Throw on some flannel, grab your significant other, and check out some of these date ideas you’ll both enjoy:
Take A Hike
Hiking during the cooler fall months can be a refreshing change from a summer trek. Find a trail that suits both of your skill levels and set out on an adventure together. Consider bringing a small picnic or a snack to enjoy once you find a scenic place to take a break. If you live somewhere where the leaves change colors, have fun with a quick fall photo shoot.
Throw Some Axes
It may sound strange, but axe throwing is a strangely fun date idea (I have not tried it!) that’s growing in popularity, with venues present in many cities across the country. The idea is pretty straightforward – you throw an axe at a target and see how close you land to the bullseye. You’ll be surprised by how much fun you both have, and you’ll work up an appetite, too – so plan on grabbing dinner after you’re done!
If you both like to spend time in the kitchen, consider a fun baking date! There are tons of fall recipes to choose from, so spend some time browsing recipe books (or your favorite websites) and find something that looks like fun to make. Challenge each other to see who can whip up the best pumpkin pie, or work together to bake a few loaves of pumpkin bread to share with friends and family later on.
Visit a Fall Festival
Fall festivals aren’t just for kids! Plan a visit with your significant other and you’ll be in for the perfect fall date experience. Enjoy quality time together as you take a hayride, sip some hot apple cider, and get lost in the corn maze. Don’t forget to pick out a couple of pumpkins from the pumpkin patch! You’ll both have fun carving them into spooky designs once you’re back at home, or bake a pumpkin pie.
Explore a Haunted House
If the idea of getting a little spooked doesn’t totally ruin your mood, checking out a haunted house around Halloween can be a fun and exciting date night idea, complete with a boost of adrenaline. Not scared enough? Go home and watch your favorite horror film together.
Plan a Picnic In The Park
With winter right around the corner, it’s smart to take advantage of your last opportunities to spend time outside without being too chilly! Schedule a date at your favorite nearby park or find a new location to explore and surprise your significant other with a picnic lunch.
Rent a Cabin Overnight
If you live within a few hours’ drive of a cabin rental, consider planning an impromptu getaway for the two of you. There’s something magical about spending the evening snuggled up in front of a crackling fire in a cozy log cabin. Bring a bottle of wine to share together and enjoy your romantic mini-vacation!
From adrenaline-pumping activities to relaxing evenings together, there are plenty of ways to enjoy a romantic and fun fall date together that you’ll both enjoy.
