Waking stressed basically sets the tone for your whole day, am I right? We’re just starting the second chapter of 2019, it’s not too late to start a new resolution. If you are tired of waking up to chaos rather than peace, here are a few tips to help you turn that situation around.
Prepare The Night Before
There are some things you can get ready before you go to bed. For instance, you could have the outfit you intend to wear ready. You should even have your shoes and bag ready, and then it will be a case of just putting everything on.
You can prepare your breakfast too. Lay yourself a place at the table, and if you are going to have some fresh fruit, for example, cut it up the night before. As long as it is covered and kept in the fridge overnight, it will be fine the next day. If you have to take medication or supplements, put them out ready too unless you have kids. Lunch? Yes, that can be prepared the night before as well. Lastly, your bathroom could be made for your shower, with clean towels already in place.
Move Your Alarm
Move your alarm to the other side of the room. Yes, move it. It is too easy just to keep hitting the snooze button, and you doze off again. Set your alarm early enough to give you plenty of time and if it is on the other side of the room, you will have to get out of bed to turn it off. This will take away the need for you to have the willpower to get out of bed straight away.
Let The Daylight In
This is one of my favorites. As soon as I am up, I open my blinds to let the daylight in. I highly recommend this! This will wake you up even more and feel more alert. You will have a brighter start to your day, and if the sun is shining it will lift your mood.
Take A Shower and Brush
By the time you shower in the morning, your breakfast is prepared, your clothes are ready, you can actually take a little longer shower! Do not have the water too hot or cold, just a warm temperature is the best.
Brushing and flossing your teeth is crucial for them to stay in good condition and you should never miss out on this. Having the right toothbrush design is as important as using the right toothpaste, as some teeth are more sensitive than others.
If the bathroom is shared, try to set up a schedule so that everyone has the time to use the bathroom for their morning routines.
Play Some Music
We all know, music is good for the soul. If you have a favorite playlist, put it on while you’re getting ready in the mornings! It could be that you allow a couple of tracks for your bathroom routine, for instance, and another one to get dressed by.
Now you are showered and dressed, it is time to eat. This should be as free of distractions as possible so that you can appreciate what you are eating. Admittedly, if I have a full breakfast I’ll feel sluggish so my go-to most mornings is an Atkins Shake. They’re delicious, packs a decent amount of protein and I can enjoy during my commute!
Keep Things Together
There are some things you will always need when you leave the house. Your bag, purse, and car keys are typical examples. Always put them together the night before, so all you have to do is pick them up as you head out.
Start The Day Relaxed
Starting your day calm and relaxed will put you in a much better frame of mind to deal with the day ahead. Everything mentioned are all part of a normal routine, it just needs you to be organized and to have enough time to do everything without any hassle.
