Weekend Recap: Vineyards & Winery at Lost Creek and Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets

Two weekends ago, my boyfriend purchased a new mid-size SUV. Before, he had a pick-up truck which limited certain attractions because his truck wouldn’t fit into many of the garages comfortably so we would take my car.  Since the new purchase, my boyfriend yearned to take a few day trips and give my car a break. Last weekend, we drove up to Baltimore, MD to visit the National Aquarium and had dinner at Phillips Seafood. We had so much fun on our day trip, we wanted to embark on another day trip this weekend and decided on Leesburg, VA!

The Vineyards & Winery at Lost Creek

I decided on Winery at Lost Creek because it’s close to an outlet mall and they offer food. Yes, food. Many wineries only offer cheese and charcuterie which is fine, but we wanted to have lunch after our wine tasting without driving many places. The Winery at Lost Creek took about an hour to get to and the drive/ride really wasn’t that bad!

Upon arriving, you’re welcomed by the bare vines and open fields of tables. During the spring and summer, I can only imagine these areas are besieged by many picnickers and their dogs.

The ambiance was calming with dim lights, sofas, chairs and a fire place. The wine tasting comprised of four white wines and three red wines. I didn’t care for any of the red wines. I don’t like red wine, it tastes bitter. I thoroughly enjoyed the white wines, but in particular, The Thibaut-Janisson Sparkling. It was light and had a sweet note to it.

For lunch, I ordered the, Wine Country Grilled Cheese. The sandwich has smoked ham, petit basque cheese, apples, mascarpone cream drizzled on top of the sourdough bread and a small serving of pasta salad. So, YES, I ordered a grilled cheese and it was delicious!

We spent about an hour at the winery and decided to head to the outlet mall. I’m sure we’ll return to spend a lot more time relaxing on the lawn.

Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets

I’ve only shopped at the Leesburg Corner Outlets once before this trip so I really didn’t know what to expect. Honestly, the outlet mall wasn’t much different than the other outlet malls I’ve visited. There was a Gap, Old Navy, J.Crew, Nike and so on. Outlet stores that I have not seen at other outlet malls in the DC area are Vineyard Vines, Tory Burch and Burberry.

Being plus size, I was very underwhelmed that there wasn’t or perhaps we didn’t see any plus size outlet stores. I did find a gingham button up and graphic top from Old Navy.

Overall, we enjoyed our day trip and are looking forward to our next #sundayfunday! What did you do this past weekend?
